7 Keys to great paintings

 Some  projects in progress
1. Arts Arcade (AA )  : A travelogue project about the art amusements we have been to.
2. Paintings Accompanying Words : Exploring the relationship between paintings and poems ; images and words.

But the real important things at hand are piling up.
I also need to clear my tables, my room .

Here are 7 keys to great paintings for all inspiring artists , artist students , art teachers or art lovers .
By Jane R. Hofstetter  . It is written in 7 stanzas   . Before that, a senior artist once told me that there are only two keys to a good painting : Colour and Composition. Some food for thoughts !

7 Keys to great paintings

As you start your work
These words you'll recall ,
Make a pattern of shapes
Big, medium and small.

Can you move through
The light shapes, we ask ?
Passage that's clear
And not blocked is our task.

Make the focal area
One-fourth of the sheet,
Darkest dark, lightest light ,
Not same shapes that repeat .

Good value shapes ,
Constant colour change ,
Use the colour wheel,
but not the whole range.

Irregular shapes that
Have good design
Lie under our work
And make it shine .

To please the eye
Use the Golden mean.
The 3: 5 ratio
Will often be seen

Lastly look into your heart
And paint what you see,
Then remembered forever,
Your painting will be .
