1D KAMPONG/MALAY VILLAGE JALAN & MAKAN TOUR

This is going to be a long post, filled with lots of photos..... I went for the above tour to Malaysia with 10 other friends, mostly senior citizens. When I told my brother Han about it, he commented that " only people like us will be interested to go". He meant "only" people like he and myself will be interested to go to such rural places like the farms, probably filled with lots of mosquitoes.

Truly, there were quite alot of them flying and bitting around. But I wasn't bitten alot. compared to my friends. There is also a kind of plant that we were told to use as a mosquitoes repellent.... (wow, you can almost find anything there) .I did not take any pictures of it and could not remember its name.

Visiting these places reminded me of this Korean drama series called The Viney
ard Man, where the plot is situated at rural areas.

Overall, all of us find that it is a good trip, with 3 meals provided, and inbetween snacks provided by the owner of the places we visited, and also tried some of their food product samples. This trip cost us $48 each. Really worth it. Will recommend readers to go, especially the children ! You will get to see things that are not common in Singapore.

This was the van that we sat the whole time while on the road

Our first stop at mushroom farm and breakfast . We had nasi lemak. The owner fried some mushrooms and was also selling the mushrooms and the flour she used.

The man in yellow shirt, Mr Tim was our tour guide. He said that he will see and taste the food almost everyday. So I think it is nothing special to him anymore.

Dragon Fruit plant at the mushroom farm. Do you know that Dragonfruit is a native fruit from Central America ? Alot of people thought that this fruit was originated from Vietnam.

We moved to the sour sop plant. If I remember correctly, the leaves can be used to cure migrane. Someone from our group commented that " no wonder when God created something, there has to be a purpose " Perhaps if we look around us, we could also find such useful herbs, leaves that are of many use for us !

The tour guide told us that this is a special baby cow. Because when the mother cow gave birth to him, she refuses to feed him. This baby cow is motherless....poor thing. There were alot of flies around him when we walked close to him.Mr Tim explaining the process of growing these mushrooms in the organic way.

The workers were packing the soil that was used to grow the mushrooms.

We proceed into this black netted place where the mushrooms "rested" and in the process of growing..

Inside the place. I also tried eating a bit piece of the mushroom offered by the tour guide. My first time eating the mushroom raw. It tasted good, like meat.
for firing

After firing, the mushrooms were kept two nights at a cold place for them to cool down. The place is on the left hand side of the photo( dark area ), but it is not shown very clearly on this photo.

Do you see the rows of plants/trees? They are dragon fruit trees planted at ZENXIN Organic farm.

Seems like there was an art competition about saving the earth

Our guide at Zenxin

The odd one out pumpkin ! But we can't bring it home :P

Remember the earlier photo of the rows of trees ? this is one of them. It is the Pumpkin tree....different from the photo you have seen earlier on at the mushroom farm. This tree has its flower growing. Don't you think that it looks like a cactus too ?

To be continued......
