A Poem by James Chua

Love

Cool scented water

I pour from my hands

Roses of pink and red for love…

and all your favourite flowers

I sprinkle for posterity of memories

sweet as sunlight shining on a crisp day.

I believe in love pure and eternal

I believe in hope, the promise of reunion

I believe in time’s gentle reminders

of what we hold most dear.

Afterthought by James :
this poem was written immediately after I heard the news about my friend's father's death. I wanted something to console and comfort her even though she was a Muslim. Death is an universal theme; we have all our ways of dealing with it. But one thing is for sure; those we love, we remember them through gentle reminders by God..it can be flowers, sunlight, a bird or even the sounds associated with our loved ones. May this poem comfort you and God bless.
