Poems by James Chua

Here are two poems by my friend James. Wow, I didn't know that he likes writing poems and they just speak from his heart -- something new to me because they are open windows to know a friend's heart. James used to study in the same JC as me and we became good friends after that. James lives in Malaysia and will at times come to Singapore when he's got the time and on school holidays. Now he has started work and I am glad he takes time to write these two poems.

I like the poem "My Wings" especially , a poem written out of a thankful heart.
"There you sang" reminds us to take time to smell the roses along the way !
Enjoy the poems !

There you sang by James Chua

I was walking by
People mingling
Dashing
Standing with their handphones
Rain falling down hard

When I heard you
Sing...
Oh how you believed
In your faith!
You sang to earn your bread.

I couldn't honestly spare a dime.
I am just a graduating student.
I am sorry.
I just want you to know
You made my day.

With eyes unseeing
You played the songs so well
Each rhyme and twang
In perfect sync
And your voice....

If I could ever grant you a wish someday,
I pray you will still be blind.
Because we are all in such need of
your faith
and your music.

Keep singing, my fair lady.
God bless you.
Everyday.

My Wings by James Chua

At this moment, I cannot even understand
How far I have come.
The long journey has just ended.
My tears, my cries of help, my despair -
the blackest hours and I thought I could even die.

But God knows best.
I have been here through His grace.
And I can't thank Him enough for
giving me my parents who
dared to believe in me.

I had soared to dizzy heights,
I had my moments of limelight,
I had my dreams to follow everyday,
And I had my friends and teachers who accepted me for what I was.

This day,
I just want to thank God.
I just want to thank my parents.
I just want to thank my sister.
I just want to thank my extended family.
I just want to thank my best friends.
I just want to thank everyone who has stood by me through thick and thin.

Thank you all for giving me the wings to fly.
