Van Gogh

" Vincent Van Gogh's artworks utilise the sunflower as a metaphor to the vitality of human endeavours/ life "

This is the thesis statement I am working on right now for my history of art essay.

Pretty interesting for me because of the key words like the "sunflower", "metaphor" and "life" .
When questions like that come to me, I am the most interested to read up.

Now ive got to read Vincent's letters to understand more about him and to give a conclusion statement on my own.

"[His letters] enable us to know more about Van Gogh's life and mentality than we do of any other artist. The letters form a running commentary on his work, and a human document without parallel."

Well, I will just treat it as if I am reading the bible.
To know the author's heart, read their personal letters, provided they are true of course.
